Mike’s Pizza is a pizzeria that has stood the test of time. It began as a trend and has lasted decades. The building was originally built in 1957 on the site of an old grocery store and meat market that dated back to the turn of the century. Mike envisioned pizza as becoming a popular food, so he opened up Mike’s Pizza at Lloyd & Elmwood in 1964 with seating for 35 people. As it turns out, his instincts were correct; today there are over 600 locations worldwide!
The pizzeria has been at the same location since it opened. It is now a sit-down restaurant with seating for 257 people, along with an open kitchen and high ceilings that make you feel like you are in Italy! They have their own fresh pizza dough made from scratch every day. In addition to traditional toppings such as pepperoni, olives, and mushrooms, you can also order toppings such as feta cheese or artichoke hearts.
At the end of a hard day on your feet doing tours in Italy’s rugged countryside, there is something so satisfying about sitting down to enjoy an authentic pizza made from scratch with fresh ingredients – maybe it really does taste like home! No matter what region of Italy you visit while touring Europe’s many wonders, there are few things that compare to enjoying real Italian pizza at Mike’s Pizza.
Driving back from the British coast with a stop in London to see Big Ben, we realized that it would be close enough for dinner. The kids were tired and hungry so Mike’s Pizza seemed like a good option. It was just off of Regent Street in Soho – plenty of parking nearby too!
The restaurant is large and airy – an open kitchen with high ceilings that make you feel like you’re actually sitting on the streets of Italy! They have their own fresh pizza dough made from scratch every day. In addition to traditional toppings such as pepperoni, olives, and mushrooms, they also offer feta cheese or artichoke hearts which are delicious additions if you want something different than your typical pizza.
The pizza is served on a very thin crust and can be eaten by hand or cut into slices. We ordered an 18 inch Margherita Pizza that was delicious – the perfect mix of sauce, cheese, oregano, basil and tomatoes with just enough melted mozzarella.
One thing I don’t like about Mike’s is that they charge $0.50 for every topping you put on your pie so if you’re not really hungry there are some other options such as appetizers or salads to choose from. The staff at mike’s are also pretty attentive which makes it feel like home!
We left feeling full but happy after our meal at Mike’s pizzeria in London! It had been a while since we all sat down to eat and catch up together so it was a really nice experience!
I would recommend that you try mikes if you want something different than your typical pizza. They are open from 11:00-11:00 every day of the week so head on down there for dinner or lunch, they have an awesome price range to choose from too with pizzas starting at $12.50-$15

The building was razed in 1957 and a present-day brick structure was built, but Mike’s remained open for dine-in or carry out with seating for 35 people
The pizzas are made from scratch every day using only all-natural ingredients. They offer many different varieties that vary by size and topping selection so there is sure to be something on their menu that will appeal to everyone!
Mike’s Pizza has been family-owned since it opened over 50 years ago and is still going strong today. It’s hard not to love mikes when you try one; they have such an amazing taste !!!
That night after dinner we split up into some smaller groups around the living room playing games and catching up. I looked at the clock and saw it was almost 11:30 pm. It had been a long day and it was time to call it quits.
