This was mostly because they thought they had no talent for making rooms look good.

Not surprisingly, the majority of the designers we spoke to were men. For the most part that’s good, but it also reflects the current cultural climate. Our culture also encourages women to be “independent,” so we tend to expect designers to want to work with us as a team and share in our ideas.
