An Unpopular Opinion About Crypto coin promotion

I don’t know about you, but I am sick and tired of reading article after article about “how to promote your crypto coin”. Seriously, it feels like the crypto space for ICO promotion is running out of ideas! Though these tips may work for some, most of them are absolutely useless — especially if you aren’t willing to invest in a lot of money. It feels as if we are all on a sinking pirate ship that is about to fall down into the abyss; it is time we start looking for life preservers before it’s too late!

1. Give away a prize

Look, many of you don’t have a large budget to invest in running a bounty and/or a promotional campaign. So, what do you do? You create some competition and give away prizes! It sounds good, but it really isn’t. If you want your coin to succeed, then you should actually build something of value before launching it and not waste time on giving tokens for the sake of getting people to show up.

2. Use exchanges and affiliate programs

There are a large number of crypto currency websites and exchanges that have affiliate programs. Some of them even have in-built bounty programs; or you can create your own. You can purchase Facebook ads, Google ads and even Twitter ads. But it doesn’t stop there! You can also use banners on popular blogs or website list, such as this one! In short, the possibilities are endless… right?

Not really. It is like playing with a nuclear bomb — the last thing you want to do if you are a responsible member of the community is to entrust promotion to someone else who might compromise its integrity. Also, most of the crypto websites that have bounty programs often flood the internet with garbage. This might sound bad, but you can actually use this to your advantage. You can hire a marketing agency to do all the work for you!

3. Medium article reviews and opinion pieces

The whole point of having a press release is to have it published on medium and make it popular through tweets and re-tweets. It’s a good strategy if you are having trouble promoting your coin; but not for long term marketing campaigns. There are many other sites out there that also offer this service, such as Steemit and Reddit. Here is an example of what I am talking about:

So, why don’t we just buy all those posts? I mean it seems like the obvious solution… but you could be wasting your courage and resources doing that! There are so many fake accounts on Steemit and Reddit these days! Don’t forget that it is good to have back up plans.

4. Just join a discord channel and start posting and following

Is that the only way you can promote your crypto? I am sorry to burst the bubble of small alt coins, but it is probably not going to work. There are a lot of great medium articles out there which talk about crypto and its potential, but are rarely discussed, let alone promoted on a public forum. So why not just join a crypto community and inform people of your coin? It’s free advertising! But not forgetting that you need to be worried about spamming people with repetitive messages.

5. Buy up some ads on reddit or even hire an SEO company

There are many services out there offering these kinds of services for manaul outreach. They are also going to help you with your SEO and SMO. You can search for such services on places like Upwork or even Fiverr. But here they are going to ask you a lot of money to get the results you require. You may have heard of Google Adsense, which lets people advertise through their platform. They have already banned crypto promotional ads for violating their terms and conditions, so I wouldn’t recommend using them either!

6. Write a technical whitepaper and publish it on GitHub

It is indeed the easiest way to promote your coin — write a whitepaper. But writing a technical white paper is quite hard, especially if you have no IT background! Instead of wasting time on a white paper that someone else might write for you, why not simply build an application that solves a real-world problem? So, don’t just publish it on GitHub! Do something real with it; and then give away tokens for free to the public.

7. Pay some people on Twitter to tweet about your coin

There are many companies out there that offer services to promote your crypto igaming coin. You can hire them by paying them through PayPal or credit card and they will get you more retweets, followers and even likes. But, how good are these services? If you read their terms and conditions carefully enough, you will find out that they might not be very honest and may even be stealing your money! They charge a lot of money for the service, but it may cost you a lot more in the long run.

8. Start a bounty program on Bitcointalk forum

I have heard of some bounties already! I don’t know what these people have done to get so many views on their threads, but they are definitely not telling us the whole truth! These are just fake ideas that make Reddit look bad.
